ProductReady docs
How the app works, what it generates, and exactly what it deliberately won’t do.
Getting started
- Install and open Products. ProductReady runs inside your Shopify admin. After install you land on a catalogue overview with a “Get started” checklist.
- Open a product and press Analyse. You’ll see a feed-readiness score and a plain-English list of what’s missing or wrong — a barcode/SKU gap, a description that’s too short, promotional wording that Google Merchant Center rejects. This check is free and uses no AI or credits.
- Add detail if you have it, then Regenerate. Optionally fill in “Tell us about this product” — the AI only writes what your product data backs up, so more detail means less generic copy, then generate — a full generation is 3 credits, a single field is 1.
- Review the preview. Every generated field is shown grouped by channel, next to your current value. Nothing has touched your store yet.
- Apply only what you tick. Press Apply, confirm the fields named in the confirmation dialog, and only those fields change on your live product.
- Roll back from Version history, as far back as your plan reaches. Version history keeps a snapshot of every apply. Rolling back restores exactly what that apply changed — anything you’ve edited yourself since then is left alone.
What one generation writes
A full generation covers seven fields, each written to the rules of where it appears — not one paragraph copied everywhere:
- Storefront title & description — what a shopper reads on your product page.
- SEO title & meta description — kept inside the lengths that actually render in a search result.
- Google Shopping title & description — Google’s recommended, attribute-dense format; a value that breaks Merchant Center’s editorial rules (promotional wording, ALL-CAPS, symbols, a price) is flagged and held back instead of saved.
- A structured product summary — a dense, plain-facts spec written in a form AI surfaces can read, saved to your product.
- Missing attributes — colour, material and dimensions, written only where your own data supports them.
On every plan, the same flow runs across your catalogue in one bulk run (5–2,000 products per batch, by plan). A bulk run generates and previews first, and you can then apply the batch in one go. Before it writes, it re-checks every draft against your product as it stands now and writes only what passed every check — anything with something to resolve is held back and named, for you to review on that product’s own screen. Everything it writes goes to ProductReady’s own storage, which changes nothing a shopper sees; your live product pages are touched only for the fields you tick for that batch, and those boxes start empty — so a batch with nothing ticked changes nothing on any product page. The whole batch can be undone in one act afterwards.
AI shopping platforms
The product title and description you apply are among the fields Shopify Catalog syndicates to AI shopping platforms.
The structured summary is written to its own field, separate from your storefront description — so by default it isn’t one of the fields Shopify Catalog sends.
Other languages
Once you’ve approved a generation, you can adapt it into your store’s other published languages. The result is saved as a native Shopify translation — the same claims, written natively, never a second silent overwrite of your product.
This stays a per-product step: a bulk run never registers translations, so applying a batch leaves your other languages untouched.
Google Merchant Center (optional)
Connect the Google account that owns your Merchant Center from Settings, and ProductReady shows you what Google actually says about each product — which items it is showing, which it has refused, and why — instead of only what we can work out from your Shopify data.
By default it only reads. If you connect Merchant Center, ProductReady can send the title and description you have reviewed and applied as a supplemental data source named “ProductReady corrections”, layered over your existing feed. We never upload or submit a feed file, never change or delete your own feed’s values, and never send Google anything you have not reviewed and applied. Switching the setting off removes the corrections and deletes that data source, and so do disconnecting and uninstalling. It never asks Google to fix anything on your behalf. Google’s permission screen will say “manage your product listings and accounts”, because that is the only permission Google offers for this data — there is no read-only version of it. You can remove our access at any time, in Settings or from your Google account. What we store, and for how long, is in the legal annex.
What ProductReady deliberately does not do
Written plainly, because expecting the wrong thing is the fastest way to be disappointed by a tool that’s actually working as designed.
- It does not write anything that failed a check. A batch writes what passed and names whatever it held back, for you to review on that product’s own screen — and it changes a live product field only if you ticked that field for the batch.
- It does not invent data. It never invents a GTIN, barcode or price, and your brand is only ever lifted from words already in your product — never made up. Product type is suggested, and like everything else it is yours to review before it goes anywhere.
- It does not deliver anything to Google. It fixes the product data your feed is built from, and can optionally send your reviewed title and description to Merchant Center as a supplemental data source. It never uploads a feed file and never changes your own feed’s values.
- It does not read your product images. Suggestions come from the text and structured data you already have.
- It does not auto-fill claims that need proof — waterproof, organic, certified, medical, food-safe and similar always wait for your confirmation.
Credits & billing
The health check is always free and never uses credits. You only spend credits when you generate copy.
- A full generation costs 3 credits; a single-channel generation costs 1. Regenerating costs the same again.
- Applying, hand-editing and rolling back are always free.
- A failed generation is never charged — reserved credits are returned automatically.
- Billing runs entirely through Shopify’s Billing API. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial: 30 evaluation credits, enough for 10 full products — your plan’s monthly credits begin at your first charge.
- Plan credits reset each billing cycle; top-up credits (paid plans only) are valid 12 months and are spent only after plan credits run out.
Full pricing and what each plan includes: see the ProductReady page.
